Two-Day Online Museum Training Program on the occasion of International Museum Day

To mark International Museum Day, ICOMOS India Northeast Zone is organising a two-day Online Museum Training Program. This will be in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Meghalaya, and Vintage Hub. 
 
The online training program looks at museums and their vital role in preserving our cultural heritage.
 
About the Programme: 

This 2-day virtual experience, scheduled on May 17th and 18th, welcomes professionals, students, and museum enthusiasts alike and aims to offer valuable insights on museum practices.

Each session will run from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm IST.:

  • Day 1 (May 17th, Friday):
    • Unveiling Museums: History and Definition
    • Exploring Treasures: Types of Museum Objects
    • Unveiling Purpose: Functions of Museums
  • Day 2 (May 18th, Saturday):
    • Masterful Management: The Art of Museum Operations
    • Lifelong Learning: Museums as Educators
    • Museums and the Humanities: A Tapestry of Understanding
    • Safeguarding the Past: Preventive Conservation Measures

The training program is led by ICOMOS India member Geetanjali Barua (founder of CHINAKI: A Centre for Heritage, which has been a leader in museum and heritage training since 2014)
