Heritage walk to Khajuraho Temple with the local community was organised on 23rd November, 2019 by ICOMOS India Emerging Professional's Working Group (EPWG) Team in partnership with INTACH Belgium and supported by Saraswati Shishu Mandir high school in Rajnagar, to make people aware about the planning principle of the Khajuraho Cultural landscape and the architecture excellence of the temples as the Outstanding Universal Values of the World Heritage Site.
Majority of the participants of the heritage walk were students of the Saraswati Shishu Mandir high school in Rajnagar (between the age of the 15-17 years). The other participants included the teachers of the school and few residents of Khajuraho.
INTACH Belgium offered to become the partner of the event with Mr. Geert Robberechts, convenor of INTACH Belgium and an expert in the regional history, as the walk leader.
The interest and enthusiasm of the participants in the heritage walk gives a feeling that the event may lead to reconnection of locals with more 1000 years old heritage in the region.
